Tree care in Cork: roadsides, farms and river valleys
North Cork is a mix of market towns, farmland and wooded river valleys, with long roadside hedgerows and mature trees around older farmhouses and estates. Ash dieback has hit many of those hedgerow trees, and declining ash beside public roads is one of the main tree-safety concerns we're asked about.
Under the Roads Act 1993, landowners are responsible for making sure trees and hedges on their land don't become a danger to people using a public road. If you have overhanging or dead trees along a roadside boundary, we can assess them, prune or remove them safely, and manage traffic around the work.
Cork County Council is the planning authority for most of the county, with Cork City Council covering the city. We'll flag anything that suggests a tree could be protected before work starts.
